The following takes place following: The Diversion

The FOXHOUND operatives make their way to the witch doctors' holding cells. In the corridor darkness, Travers troopers fumble blindly as they are silently picked off one by one.

They reach and enter the room where the two masks are being held — floating behind a blue-phased force field.

The operatives clear the room, followed by Wesley, Master Trelawny, and Master Devlin.

Dr. Fraser: Wesley? Master Devlin? What are you doing here?

Wesley: Rescuing you, of course.

Dr. Fraser: That would be splendid, but as you can see, there’s a suppression field generator hindering our departure.

Master Trelawny: Let me take a look at that, dear boy. Yes, just as I suspected — fairly primitive in design and build. It also appears to be Goblin Brand-made.

Master Devlin: Of course it is. 😒

Master Trelawny: Poorly made, too. The suppression field is probably radioactive. Good thing you’re not human, but I’d suggest you, Wesley, and the others wait outside.

The rest step into the hallway.

Master Trelawny: If you go inside that module there and rummage around — it’s very crudely put together — it should disable itself.

Master Trelawny takes out his tools and begins disassembling the module.

Master Devlin: Hold it, Josiah. If it’s Goblin Brand-made, it’ll likely be booby-trapped. Please allow me — I’ll go inside and cripple it.

Master Trelawny: Well, if you insist, dear boy.

The Master melts into slime and goo, sliding into the module.

Master Devlin: Josiah, I’d step outside if I were you — just in case this thing goes off.

The Master rummages around inside.

Master Devlin: Oh, good god…

Master Trelawny: Are you alright in there, Steven?

Master Devlin: It’s pretty horrible in here…

Suddenly, the module explodes, blasting the Master across the room — he splats against the opposite wall. The force field deactivates.

Dr. Fraser: Ah, splendid. Are you alright, Master Devlin?

Two cartoonish eyes blink open in the goo-splat mark.

Master Devlin: Just terrific, Larry.

Wesley enters with a shovel and scoops him up.

Wesley: That explosion’s bound to alert more guards. We should get out of here.

The group assembles in the corridor, with the two Masks floating behind.

They rush down the hall — but a group of Travers Troopers appears at the far end.

Squad Leader: Contact!

The corridor erupts in a firefight between the FOXHOUND operatives and the Travers troopers.

Master Devlin regains enough strength to return to his octopus form. He leaps out of the shovel, scurries up the wall, and dashes across the ceiling. He dives at the troopers like a facehugger, landing on one of their faces. The trooper panics and fires wildly, hitting two of his own men. He manages to pull the Master off and hurl him at the wall — only to be gunned down by one of the FOXHOUND operatives.

A dazed Master Devlin looks up as Wesley moves to retrieve him.

Wesley: On your feet, Steven. We’re leaving!

More troopers gather in the corridor. The group runs the opposite way, fleeing the growing number of enemy forces.

They outrun the fire and reach a set of double doors. They rush through and barricade it behind them. The corridor opens into a large windowed observation platform.

The group peers out. Below is a massive hangar-like facility — a sprawling labour camp.

Thousands of immigrants are forced to work, mainly in a vast gold mining operation beneath the detention centre. A huge godlike propaganda poster hangs on the wall, along with a Traverscast screen looping a speech from Travers. The group watches in horror. Travers troopers are seen flogging and brutalising prisoners.

Wesley: This is barbaric.

Master Trelawny: Truly horrifying. But there’s not much we can do — not in our position.

Master Devlin: We can hardly ignore it either.

Suddenly, an explosion blasts a hole in one of the camp walls, taking out several Travers Trooper guards. Goblin Slayer storms through the breach, flanked by FOXHOUND operatives, and opens fire on the shocked defenders. He begins cutting through troopers with brutal efficiency. This sparks a rebellion among the enslaved immigrants, who rise up and attack the guards.

Master Devlin: We need to move.

The group rushes down corridors looking for an exit — until another explosion tears through the wall at the far end. They brace for attack — but it's Kaz and another FOXHOUND squad.

Master Devlin: Kaz? What are you doing here?

Kaz: I came to lend a hand... boss.

Later, everyone gathers outside. The remaining Travers troopers have surrendered. The liberated slaves are a mix of immigrants and Widdlington civilians, rounded up to work the mines.

Master Devlin approaches Goblin Slayer, who is soaked in blood.

Master Devlin: Goblin Slayer, I thought you left with Ermintrude?

Goblin Slayer: Cowgirl woke up. Insisted we help the prisoners.

Master Devlin: I see... Well, I suggest we all get out of here before more soldiers turn up.

The group departs as the freed prisoners begin to disperse. Some of them start executing the surrendered guards.
