DIARY OF DAVID FORD – ENTRY #1

DATE: 16/05/2024

The town’s completely gone to shit — again.

This time it’s DINOSAURS. They’re everywhere.

And it’s not just the lizards... The whole environment has shifted. Buildings look like they’ve been neglected for decades, with vegetation and trees growing through them. The roads are full of cracks and craters filled with stagnant water.

And it’s HOT. REALLY HOT.

We have no idea where they came from or how this is even possible, but it all seemed to happen overnight.

Everyone is in a state of panic. Some are saying climate change is to blame and that we need to repent. Others are calling it the RAPTOR RAPTURE and have already formed a cult to worship the dinosaurs.

I don’t know how much more of this place I can take.

Raccoon City is looking pretty good right about now. I don’t even know why I ever transferred...

WPD – Wallywood Division Command Log

Filed by: Deputy Chief Harlan Mullens

Date: 17/05/2024 – 12:40

Most of West Widdlington is gone. Estimated 80% overrun west of the Waldo River. Dragon Island’s completely lost — no comms, no access. Roads are cratered, transit unreliable or impossible.

Joint evacuation efforts continue with the Waldoshire Sheriff’s Department. Isla Waldista holds as a temporary refugee zone, but the camp is at capacity amid a steady influx from West Widdlington and Walver Lake. Medical teams are overwhelmed, and efforts are underway to relocate refugees to Waldobury and Wallywood. However, downtown remains too dangerous. Tragically, 42 refugees were lost this morning to a raptor attack on Wilford Brimley Road during relocation efforts.

Masters Council forces remain concentrated on the east side — holding Old Widdlington and pushing into surrounding sectors. No updates have been received from them since.

The WPD is coordinating operations out of the Wallywood branch. Power is patchy but stable, and communications remain operational.

Current focus: stabilising Wallywood and pushing south through Waldford Heights to establish a safe zone downtown between Wallywood and Waldobury. Resistance is heavy, units are stretched thin, and morale is low.

Additional support promised from greater Waldonia. No confirmed arrival time.

End report.

WPD INCIDENT REPORT

Date: 17/05/2024

Time: 18:30

Reporting Officer: Officer David Ford

Incident Summary:

At approximately 16:00 hours, Officer Roberta Waylon and I made the decision to step onto the rooftop of Wallywood Station for a smoke break. This was in direct violation of orders to remain indoors unless actively deployed on a mission.

We scanned the area and believed it to be clear. At around 16:05, a large flying reptile, most likely some kind of Pterosaur, descended rapidly and seized Officer Waylon.

I saw her struggling, but she was airborne within seconds. Another one came for me, but I managed to get back inside and lock the access door.

I never saw her again.

Robbie’s dead. And it’s my fault.

I talked her into coming up to the roof with me—just for a smoke, just to watch my back. I couldn’t take being boxed in any longer. Needed air. Needed sky. Now I’ve got her blood on my conscience.

She didn’t scream for long. One of those flying bastards—Pterodactyl, whatever—snatched her up like she weighed nothing. I couldn’t do a damn thing.

Deputy Chief Mullens could’ve torn me a new one. I deserve it. But he didn’t. Maybe he’s trying to keep what’s left of morale from collapsing. Good luck with that.

We’re running low on rations. Some of the boys have already deserted. Can’t blame them.

The Empress is on the TV right now. Kaiserin Mayuri. Her voice is soothing. Almost makes me believe we still have a grip on this mess.

Almost.

Tomorrow, I’m volunteering for tactical deployment. Pretty sure DC won’t stop me — not like we’re overflowing with manpower anymore. And someone has to step up.

Might as well be me.

Mullens granted me permission to join Tactical. We're heading out soon. Downtown. Otherwise more recently known as Hell...

There's some big dragon guy in with Mullens right now. Apparently he just joined the party—flew in this morning, so DC is giving him a briefing. Supposedly he's one of those Master's Council guys. Devlin or something.

Some of the boys don't trust him, but he seems okay to me. He chased off some of those little Compsog bastards and saved a couple of straggler refugees on his way here...

Apparently he's heading down to Waldobury. Lucky him. I wish I could go there.

Not gonna lie, I'm having second thoughts about this mission I volunteered for... Well, I can't back out now, can I?

WPD INCIDENT REPORT

Date: 18/05/2024

Time: 15:40

Reporting Officer: Officer Marcus Jones (Tactical Response Unit)

Operation Code: TRU-WH-NORTH-178

Location: Wilford Brimley Alley, North Waldford Heights

Summary:

At approximately 14:30 hours, TRU Alpha Team, led by Sergeant Michael Frost, was conducting a sector-clearing operation in North Waldford Heights. Our objective was to secure the area block-by-block and neutralize or contain roaming dinosaurs.

We had successfully captured and contained a Pachycephalosaurus without incident. Spirits were high. Moments later, we heard a woman's voice crying out for help from a side alley near the intersection of Wilford Brimley Street and Walifax Lane.

Upon investigation, we located a female victim on the ground, her legs severely mutilated. As we approached, we realized too late that it was a trap. A coordinated ambush was initiated by a pack of raptors concealed in surrounding debris and upper levels. The injured woman was apparently bait to lure us in.

The attack was immediate and overwhelming. Multiple officers were killed within the first moments of engagement. Only six of us managed to return to Wallywood Station alive—one in critical condition, having sustained a bilateral leg amputation. An emergency triage station has been established in the squad room to tend to the wounded. Morale among surviving officers is critically low.

Confirmed Casualties:

Sergeant Michael Frost – KIA during initial raptor strike

Officer Martina Brooks – KIA during initial raptor strike

Officer David Ford – KIA during initial raptor strike

Officer Riley Beckett – KIA, during retreat

Wounded:

Officer Louis Temple (critical) – Bilateral leg amputation

Officer Marcus Jones – Minor lacerations and shock

Officers Nyla Reeves, Carter Hume, Joel Bannock, and Alex Durn – Various non-critical injuries

MIA:

Officer James White – Lost visual during initial raptor attack. Presumed dead.

End of Report

SUPPLEMENTAL: COMMAND LOG – DEPUTY CHIEF HARLAN MULLENS

Date/Time: 18/05/2024, 17:10

Subject: Tactical Failures in North Waldford Heights / Orders from Master Devlin

Following the return of the surviving members of TRU Alpha Team, I conducted a field debrief with Officer Marcus Jones. Based on the confirmed presence of coordinated raptor activity and the loss of five officers, I relayed the situation to Master Devlin, who was assisting us.

Master Devlin issued the following directives:

No further excursions into Waldford Heights until raptor movement patterns can be predicted or neutralized.

Border blockades are to be maintained and reinforced along northern and southern Wallywood.

Immediate reassessment of current blockade defenses for vulnerabilities.

Redeployment of available personnel to strengthen northern containment zones.

These orders are to be considered active and binding until lifted by the Master’s Council or Devlin himself.

Personal Note:

Master Devlin has since departed and is apparently heading to the Waldopolis Chronicle building in Waldobury. I remain bemused as to why he would choose to visit a newspaper office at a time like this.
