The Editor
The Editor also known as "Ed" or "Evil Ed," is both the co-creator and a recurring character in the Waldoverse.
The Editor is a god-like being in the Waldoverse, whose influence shapes the narrative, characters, and very fabric of this peculiar universe. His presence, though largely unseen by most of its inhabitants, is felt in every twist and turn of the Waldoverse's chaotic and ever-changing landscape. While some revere him as a divine architect, others view him as a malevolent force, delighting in the chaos he creates.
Ed is responsible for the design of most of the Waldoverse’s inhabitants, carefully crafting their personas and destinies, often with a mischievous or perverted flair. His "illustrations" of certain events are considered hard evidence under Waldonian Law, further cementing his omnipotence in this world. Despite Edism being the official religion of Waldonia, only about half of the population subscribes to it, with many dismissing it as mere superstition. However, Ed is very real, capable of bending the Waldoverse and its characters to his will using his "god mode."
Ed comes across as a rather sleazy character, both in his behavior and appearance. When he makes himself visible, he typically appears as a white human male, often dressed in a gaudy Hawaiian shirt and sporting a pencil mustache, which adds to his dubious persona. His sleaziness isn’t just superficial—his narratives often take a lecherous turn, and his interactions with characters can be unsettlingly inappropriate.
Notorious for his fickle nature, Ed frequently abandons story arcs on a whim or torments characters who cross him, particularly finding amusement in trolling Master Devlin. Despite his claims of neutrality, his actions often reveal a bias, especially when provoked. Ed also likes to mock the Waldoverse as if it were a poorly written TV show, blaming fictional "woke producers" for any inconsistencies in the narrative.
Adding to the confusion, Ed created a human counterpart named Ed Mulvin, who is unaware of his divine origin, further blurring the lines between reality and fiction in the Waldoverse. Ed also relies on a part-time writing partner known as the Co-Editor, another higher being shrouded in mystery, rumored to have a biased relationship with Master Devlin.
A persistent fringe theory claims that Ed may be, or once was, a member of the Q Continuum—though no official acknowledgment has been made by either party.
Ultimately, Ed remains an elusive and unpredictable force, steering the Waldoverse with a blend of creativity, chaos, and occasional malice, keeping its inhabitants and stories in a perpetual state of flux.
