Harris Travers
Overview
Harris John "Jack" Travers is a sleazy yet charismatic businessgoblin from Widdlington and a prominent figure in The Waldoverse. Originally emerging as an alternate personality of the mad goblin Widdle Frunkut, Travers later developed into an independent individual and has since become one of the breakout characters of the series.
History
Travers’ origins trace back to 2021, when he began to emerge as a recurring alternate personality of the mad goblin Widdle Frunkut, who suffers from Multiple Personality Disorder. Speaking in an American accent and sporting a brown moustache and toupee, “Travers” claimed to be a lawyer and frequently frustrated Master Devlin with boasts that he was head of the Masters Council.
Over time, Travers developed into a dominant, fully realised personality, inexplicably wealthy and surrounded by his own network of businesses and associates of uncertain origin. Although Devlin initially despised him, the fact that Travers was essentially Widdle Frunkut meant he continued to take reluctant responsibility for him, often becoming entangled in his various schemes.
Competing with Widdle Frunkut for control of their shared body, the rivalry continued for years until the fragile mind could no longer sustain both personas. They were eventually separated, with Travers being magically granted his own form. He now exists in what is effectively a clone body of Widdle Frunkut.
Travers, despite being only a few years old, has repeatedly claimed a series of extraordinary accomplishments. Among them, he asserts that he was one of the original American colonists, having travelled on the Mayflower; that he was married to Marilyn Monroe; that he mentored JFK; and that he single-handedly ended the Cuban Missile Crisis. He also boasts an extensive military career as a Top Gun pilot in the US Air Force, claiming to have served in Vietnam and the Gulf War, before re-enlisting to complete three tours in Afghanistan after personally witnessing the fall of the Twin Towers in New York City on 9/11.
No credible sources support any of these assertions, and contemporary records contradict them. These claims are treated as self-reported and remain entirely unverified.
Personality and Traits
Brash and excessively confident, Travers embodies classic narcissism with an inflated ego and consistently refers to himself in the third person as a "National Treasure." Despite his self-assured exterior, he is not particularly sharp and can appear comically slow or foolish. Nevertheless, his charisma and sleazy charm allow him to navigate difficult situations and talk his way out of trouble.
A prominent aspect of Travers’ character is his sex addiction. He harbours a significant preoccupation with the opposite sex, especially busty human women. Despite his physical shortcomings, his charisma and persuasive skills make him unexpectedly successful in seducing women, often convincing them to give him 'oil changes'. He also exhibits a fixation on breasts, frequently demanding that his female employees work topless and spending considerable time at strip clubs.
However, Travers is more than a sleazy opportunist. He has demonstrated loyalty and kindness toward his friends, and occasionally shows signs of bravery. He is also a religious goblin, regularly referencing Ed, the Waldoverse's version of God. His favourite catchphrase when disputing others is that they are "speaking out of turn."
Physical Description
Essentially a clone of Widdle Frunkut, Travers shares the same basic anatomy. Standing at 2 feet 5 inches, he possesses a disproportionately large head, prominent ears and oversized claws, creating a distinctive silhouette. His slim frame is paired with rubbery, amphibious green skin that appears perpetually slick, giving him a faintly glossy sheen. Prominent ridge-like brows and the complete absence of a visible nose contribute to an amphibian, almost alien appearance.
In contrast to the often unkempt and dirty wF, Travers takes considerable pride in his appearance. He typically dresses in tailored suits, complete with tie and waistcoat, projecting the image of a self-important professional. His brown, side-parted toupee and bushy false moustache, which often appears to have a life of its own, are central to this carefully constructed image.
Unlike wF’s high-pitched, childlike voice, Travers speaks with the rough, self-assured tone of an American man in his forties, delivered in an eccentric drawl reminiscent of Jack Nicholson.
Notable Relationships
- Master Devlin: Travers' best friend. Although their relationship began on a tense note, with the uptight, no-nonsense Devlin initially despising the slick and smooth-talking Travers, the two quickly formed a close bond, much like the dynamic in a classic buddy cop movie.
- Widdle Frunkut: Friend, employee, competitor, and even father... Born from Waldo's malfunctioning Operating System, Travers originally existed as one of Widdle Frunkut's alternate personalities. Now, with their own separate bodies, they share a friendly yet competitive relationship. Despite being nearly identical in appearance, their personalities couldn't be more different.
- Fiona Angela Travers (née Malone): Travers’ estranged current wife and former First Lady of Waldonia. Former politician, escort, and reformed vampire.
- Mayuri Shiina: Travers' ex-wife and ex-partner of Travers, Travers and Shiina law firm. Now Queen of Waldonia.
- Ermintrude Maine-Anjou: Travers' faithful, busty personal assistant.
- Kyle Konrad: Travers’s errand boy and accountant. Also the former Prime Minister and former Vice President of Waldonia.
- Chantelle Devereux: Former stripper turned businesswoman, and former owner of The Sass Hole, she later became Travers’ business partner and manager of the TNT club.
- Mr. Vincent Raymond and Mr Ian Boothe: Travers’ loyal, long‑serving lackeys: Raymond handles security and Boothe serves mainly as his driver. Both previously served as government ministers under the Kondrad government and the Travers administration.
- Brian "Kyle" Cavendish: A writer for The Waldopolis Chronicle, whom Travers persistently misnames, despite claiming to be a father-like figure to him.
- Stuart Devlin: Hybrid goblin-dragon and son of Master Devlin and Widdle Frunkut. Regarded by Travers as his “favourite nephew.”
- Tina Malone: Travers’ stepdaughter, currently employed as a waitress at TNT.
- Clive: Travers’ beloved pet capybara.
Career
Travers’ career trajectory has frequently been cited as a textbook case of failing upwards. He began as a sleazy, opportunistic, and relatively inept lawyer who claimed to be the head of the Masters Council despite no record of him ever having served with the Council. After the Nilbog Wars, he became Mayor of Widdlington, Waldoshire, following a series of tragic deaths among rival candidates.
Only weeks into his term, his power‑induced madness led him to unilaterally withdraw Waldoshire from the UK and declare himself the first Emperor of Waldonia. After his encouraged abdication, he handed the Empire to his former wife, who became Kaiserin Mayuri von Walverschmidt and later, following a referendum, restored Waldonia as a constitutional monarchy and became Queen Mayuri.
After a brief period as a homeless goblin, Travers walked into the role of Editor‑in‑Chief of The Waldopolis Chronicle. Once a respected Widdlington broadsheet, it became a sleazy, sensationalist tabloid under his leadership.
During the Vampire Crisis, Travers re‑entered politics and, aided by snap elections and constitutional reforms, ran a populist campaign against Widdlington's vampire overlords. He became the first President of Waldonia, though his presidency lasted less than a year before ending in impeachment and resignation for unknown reasons.
Since leaving political office, Travers has returned to practising law while founding the TNT empire, which he operates from his Wallywood strip club and brothel, Travers’ National Treasures. He also remains a major shareholder in The Waldopolis Chronicle and is the owner of Playpen Magazine.
Abilities and Traits
As a goblin clone of Widdle Frunkut, Travers shares many of the same physical abilities, including invulnerability, wall-climbing, and shapeshifting. However, he rarely takes advantage of them, choosing instead to live as much like a human as possible. Where Widdle Frunkut would simply walk out between prison bars, shrink and slide down a drainpipe, or literally slip out of the hangman’s noose, Travers often ends up serving his sentence simply because it does not occur to him to leave.
Despite his notoriety and criminal activities whilst serving in high-profile positions, most Waldonians fail to recognise him in public. Whether this is the result of goblin glamour or the apolitical nature of the populace remains unclear, but it works in his favour, sparing him public confrontations.
When cornered, Travers relies on his words, his inexplicable wealth, and his flexible morals to escape trouble. This is largely due to his talent for projecting harmlessness and contrition. Smooth-talking, blackmail, and bribery — all carefully disguised as harmless dealings — are tools he has mastered.
