Dr Larry Fraser

Overview

Dr Lawrence “Larry” Alan Fraser MD is a witch doctor with a practice in Widdlington and a recurring character in the Waldoverse. At some distant point in the past, his spirit became trapped within a floating wooden mask.

Physical Description

Larry’s human form is long gone. He now appears as a limbless, floating wooden mask with yellow, pupil-less eyes, red eyebrows and lips, a pointed orange nose, a leaf-like green goatee, and a set of coloured feathers on top. Some observers may note the striking similarity to Aku Aku from the Crash Bandicoot universe, though the Editor assures us that Larry is an entirely original character.

Background, Role and Abilities

Larry is a witch doctor with a broad knowledge of potions, magic, and alternative medicine, which allows him to act as an effective if unconventional healer. He can travel through time and space, move between dimensions, and exist across multiple planes at once.

He was originally introduced as Widdle Frunkut’s doctor, running a practice in East London where he treated an increasingly diverse population with his various remedies. He eventually grew tired of London and relocated to Waldonia, where he established his surgery and apothecary, The Medicine Mask, and became one of the most respected, albeit eccentric, healers in the realm.

Larry and the EMH

Although based in Waldonia, his practice extends far beyond it. Thanks to his ability to traverse dimensions, he frequently makes house calls across different realms, treating a wide range of patients throughout the Waldoverse. His clientele includes Widdle Frunkut, various folklore creatures, and former President Harris Travers.

In recent years, Dr Fraser has taken on an assistant, the Emergency Medical Hologram Doctor from Star Trek Voyager. This holographic physician provides advanced medical support, along with dry, often sarcastic commentary that complements and occasionally challenges Larry’s more traditional approach.

Personality

Despite his appearance and presumed origins, Larry speaks with the voice and manner of a seasoned, middle-aged American doctor. He is good-natured, approachable, and quietly witty, with a relaxed confidence that puts patients at ease. His manner blends professionalism with casual ease, making his interactions both reassuring and engaging.
